I have taken the chance to work in air-conditioned comfort in my classroom while it is empty for the holidays. Bliss! Summer usually sees me standing in a bucket of water in the shed working as fast as I can before the paint dries...this might explain why I don’t usually get much done in the middle of summer.
It is a little hard to get started in January what with all the marvellous distractions of holidays and family visiting from Queensland, BUT I have to have work finished by the 22nd of February for our group exhibition. There really is nothing like a deadline to hasten output is there?
The theme of the exhibition is ‘Boom’ - quite apt given we live in the boom state. I am developing work that explores the idea of boom and bust: the detritus that is left behind and stories these stranded oddments tell.
